The Department of Art Education at the Palacký University in Olomouc offers study programmes in a two-stage bachelor and a follow-up master forms.
• Art making with the focus on education (a single-major bachelor’s study programme)
• Art making with focus on education (a double-major bachelor’s study programme)
• Art education for secondary and primary art schools (a single-major master’s study programme)
• Art education for secondary schools and 2nd stage of primary schools (a double-major master’s study programme)
• Museum and gallery education (a double-major master’s study programme, full-time and part-time)
Apart from engaging students in practical art lessons, the study is also focused on wide areas of visual culture and art, as well as museum education. As for the double-major study programmes, it is expected of students to combine the one field of study given in the list above with another one offered by the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Arts at the Palacký University.
A graduate completing a single-major bachelor's study programme can continue their studies in a two-year follow-up master’s study programme in Art education for secondary and primary art schools. A graduate completing a double-major bachelor’s study programme can continue their studies in the master's study programme in Art Education for 2nd and 3rd stage of primary schools, Museum and gallery education or in related master's programmes at other faculties of education.
The newly reconstructed historical complex of the Art Centre of Palacký University in Olomouc offers unique facilities and spacious art studios designed not only for classical art disciplines: drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture, but also multimedia art, photography, graphic design, ceramics, metal, jewellery and textile art. The follow-up master's study programme incorporates a selection of practical art disciplines in the foundation of the basic and specialized theoretical disciplines of a broader, social-pedagogical nature, and disciplines of pedagogical and common module.
